DEFRA Funding

Following the 11th June announcement, DEFRA has now issued further information for England.

The headline being that £2.7 billion is to be invested in ‘sustainable farming and nature recovery’ annually for the years 2026/2027 and 2027/2028.

On average, farmers and land managers will receive £2.3 billion annually through the Farming and Countryside Programme, along with up to £400 million from supplementary nature initiatives, such as tree planting and peatland restoration schemes.

The table below provides a summary of the funding.

Residual Delinked Payment

The 76% reductions from 2020 payment levels below £30,000 announced in October for 2025/2026 payments is to become a 98% reduction. This implies the maximum payment available would be approximately £600.
