Sustainable Farming Incentive opens for application

The Sustainable Farming Incentive

From the June 30 farmers can apply for the Sustainable Farming Incentive, a 3 year agreement is available with the following annual payment rates:

Standard

Level

Total annual payment per hectare
Arable and horticultural soils Introductory £22 per ha

Intermediate

£40 per ha
Improved grassland soils Introductory £28 per ha
  Intermediate £58 per ha
Moorland Introductory £10.30 per ha

If relevant, the total annual payment may also include an additional payment for:

  • The moorland standard (£265 per agreement per year)
  • Common land entered into a separate SFI standards agreement (£6.15 per ha)

In addition, The SFI annual health and welfare review will be open initially by invitation only, but then to all eligible keepers in the autumn of 2022.

This payment will help you cover the costs for;

  • the vet
  • testing for endemic diseases and conditions
  • your time

The payment for each species is different. This is because the required testing for some species may take longer to do, and some results cost more to analyse.

You’ll be paid:

  • £684 for a pig review
  • £436 for a sheep review
  • £522 for a beef cattle review
  • £372 for a dairy cattle review

Further standards are expected to be added in the coming years, for further guidance on how to access this new scheme please contact Alan Falshaw Farm, Business Consultant 07425 186127 or email afalshaw@vickersandbarrass.co.uk
